Is Christ IN Every Book of the Bible?
Published: 28th May 2026
The Lord said to the Jewish leaders of Israel when He was on Earth:
“You study the Scriptures diligently because you think that in them you have eternal life. These are the very Scriptures that testify about me“
This was before the New Testament Scriptures existed, so Christ was saying that the Hebraic Scriptures testified about Him one way or another, which makes sense since the Son is the living Word of God (John 1:1 & 1:14). So let’s look at several examples from just the the first two books of the Bible to observe how the Son is observed in each book of Scripture, whether literally, typically or prophetically:
Genesis
- Christ is the Word who speaks the Earth & Universe into existence, which the New Testament identifies as the Son — Genesis 1; John 1:1-3; Colossians 1:16.
- Plural references to the LORD, which reveals the Tri-Unity of God, Father, Son, Holy Spirit — Genesis 1:26.
- The seed of the woman, which will eventually crush the serpent’s head — Genesis 3:15; Acts 10:38; 1 John 3:8.
- Melchizedek was a type of Christ’s eternal nature and priesthood — Genesis 14:18-20; Hebrews 7:1-17.
- Isaac’s willingness to offer his son as sacrifice points to Father God’s offering the Son to die in our place — Genesis 22; John 3:16.
- Joseph was a type of Christ — Genesis 37-50 (skip chapters 38 & 49 as they are not pertinent to the life of Joseph).
Here are seven specifics on how Joseph’s life foreshadowed the Messiah:
- Joseph was the beloved son of his father, Jacob.
- He was sent by his father to his brothers.
- He was hated and rejected by them and sold for pieces of silver.
- He was severely tempted and overcame.
- He was “killed” and “came back to life” as far as his father was concerned.
- He graciously forgave his offenders when they repented.
- He subsequently provided them a new home that was a paradise compared to where they had been living, at least as far as sustenance was concerned.
Exodus
- Christ is the Passover lamb — Exodus 12.
- God provided manna for the Israelites in the desert wilderness, which was “bread from Heaven” and is a type of Christ in the New Testament — Genesis 16; John 6:25-59.
- The Almighty provided life-giving water from the rock for the Israelites and Yeshua said he was the “living water” — Exodus 17; John 4:10.
- The LORD revealed himself as the Great I Am, which Jesus did as well — Exodus 3:13-14; John 8:58.
- The Israelites walking through the Red Seas as the LORD parted the waters symbolizes being baptized into Christ — Exodus 14:21-29; 1 Corinthians 10:1-2.
These are examples from just two books of Holy Scripture. In your studies look for the interesting different ways that other books of the Bible testify about Jesus Christ.
